AEPC designs Product Development Scheme for trade

There is a lot of competition in various apparel items like T-Shirts, Ladies blouses, Ladies Skirts etc. In order to widen the export basket on those products where there is substantial potential in the world but India has a very minimal share; AEPC has designed a scheme for the Indian garment exporters to tap the USD 36 Billion market of the 12 selected products where India has just 2.83% share

For ensuring smooth functioning of Product Development scheme, AEPC would form a Product Development Cell. Moreover, the Council shall seek the expert advice of CBI, Netherlands, Nottinghamshire University, FIT, New York besides linkages with top buyers. Expert advice of top designers shall also be explored.

Benefits to the Exporters: The Council will help in increasing the exports of these products to the member exporters by providing various assistances at each stage through this scheme. The participating Exporters can collectively avail Rs. 149 Lakhs of financial help from the Government under Market Access Initiative scheme.
Funding from the government

1. Funding from the government. The above scheme is being funded by the Ministry of Commerce & Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The council has already obtained Rs. 149 Lakhs from the Government to implement the scheme. With the government’s assistance, the Council would conduct various studies so as to find out vital information like Top buyers of these products, season of business.
2. Inviting of technical experts to India to provide technical know how.
3. Inviting of fashion designers to India to prepare Samples.
4. Development of products (category wise) with the help of the buyers.
5. Preparation of prototypes samples in consultation with the buyers.
6. Assistance in start of commercial production.
7. Conducting meetings with the overseas buyers.
8. Assistance in marketing of the developed products.

Moreover, the council shall also make an effort for getting special benefits from the government on the selected products. The Exporters who are interested to avail the benefits under the scheme shall fill up the application form and send it to AEPC along with registration fee on or before 1st September, 2009.
